NANA KWAME AMPADU

The African Brothers Band Int'l was formed in 1963, with its maiden recordings completed on 14 November 1966. The very first songs recorded at the Ghana Film Industries Corporation (G.F.I.C.C.) were “Aganka Dabre” and “Suminaso Ntonko.”

The pioneering musicians who established the group include:
P.S.K. Ampadu (deceased), Rover Amo Ampadu, Eddie Donkor (deceased), Nana Nyarko, Kwame Anim, K. Ofori, Yaw Asante, and Yaw Owusu, as well as Joe Dee, Opong Kyekyeku (deceased), Lawyer Boateng (deceased), P.K. Asare, and K. Agyemang.

The African Brothers Band boasts over 700 songs and dominated the highlife music scene for more than 31 years, cementing its legacy as one of Ghana’s most influential musical groups.
