Illinois Fig Nut
I'm newer to growing figs in containers. I tasted my first true tree ripened fig from a California farmers market in SF. I was hooked. I came home and purchased my first fig tree (Greek Brown Turkey) from a local grower. I started collecting figs that would do well in our Zone 5 climate, which is prone to humidity. I am currently at about 15 varieties. I have a nice variety of honey figs, berry figs and many other subtle flavors. I wanted figs that would ripen early enough before our first frost in October (although I do have later figs like Ponte Tresa and Figo Preto). Showcasing my potted orchard and sharing information and tips for others in similar climates looking to enjoy tree ripened figs. In addition to growing figs for the fruit, I also propagate baby trees and resell them locally and online. So if you are near the Chicago area, talk to me!
