St Columbans Mission Society

About us

Columbans are a missionary society of priests who work in cooperation with lay people and Columban Sisters in 16 countries from a standpoint of solidarity with the poor and integrity of creation. Formally founded in 1918, St Columbans Mission Society takes its name from St Columban, Ireland's sixth century missionary to Europe.

Our Global Mission

As Columban missionaries we live and share the Gospel of Jesus through working with the poor and exploited, seeking justice and dignity for those denied their rights, developing faith communities in the local church and respect and care for the earth and the environment.

Columbans often find themselves in situations where people are suffering great injustices. The Columbans see this concern for justice, peace and the integrity of creation as central to their mission work.
