JSW SCHOOL OF LAW
It is a noble vision of His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck to establish the nation’s first law school. His Majesty the King granted the Royal Charter establishing the law school on 21 February 2015. The law school as envisioned by His Majesty is established to promote the rule of law with an objective to produce a well-trained and socially responsible legal fraternity in order to develop strong legal institutions contributing to a vibrant democracy, and to promote legal research and scholarship for the advancement of learning.
To achieve this noble vision, His Majesty the King in His wisdom commanded Her Royal Highness Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuck to initiate the Royal Law Project in 2009, well before the Royal Charter was granted. Since then, the Royal Law Project Secretariat, under the able guidance of Her Royal Highness, has been diligently working towards the founding of the law school.
