Rune Barslund

Rune Barslund is an accordion and whistle player, who was awarded Danish Accordion Player of the Year 2024. When he was in his early teens he fell in love with Celtic music and a few years later he formed the trio Kasír with Aske Fuglsang Ruhe and Oisín Walsh. They successfully toured Denmark and other European countries for 10 years and released the two critically acclaimed albums Reel Irish (2006) and Chilling on a Sunday (2010).

Since 2011, Rune and Danish fiddle player Andreas Tophøj have toured extensively in many countries. The duo won Track of the Year at The Danish Folk Music Awards 2012 for Rune’s composition “The Danish Immigrant”. In 2014 they released an EP by the same name and in 2020 they brought out their debut album Trails & Traces. Rune also plays with Inver, a Celtic trio with fiddle player Kevin Lees (UK) and guitarist Simon Nyberg (SE). Inver received three nominations at The Danish Folk Music Awards after the release of their debut album Heading Out (2019).
