Muziek in de Nicolaas
The Stichting Muziek in de Nicolaas (SMN - the Music Foundation of the Basilica of St. Nicholas) was established in 2000. Its purpose is to facilitate the use of the Basilica for the presentation of choral and instrumental music of a high standard. Two choirs in the Basilica alternate between the Choral Evensongs on Saturdays and one choir sings once a month a Sunday service. As of 2017 the Basilica Consort was added to the choirs, to be able to have quality music supporting all Sunday and major services in the Basilica, and several services a year for the national Dutch TV.
Music is sung a cappella or with organ (Sauer organ or Klop positive organ) and varies from Renaissance polyphony to modern choral compositions. On this channel you will find recordings from Masses, Choral Evensongs and organ concerts.
