This channel focuses on classical music from roughly 1685 to 1849. My students and I study the various styles of music from that time, and create our own. I record improvisations as examples of concepts we are studying. I also record partimento realizations. In the Playlists page, you can find my recordings of the 100 Versetti of Stanislao Mattei, also a large selection of improvised minuets, rondos, preludes and sonata movements (more than you can possibly watch😂). There is also a playlist containing my analyses of classical pieces, using a small number of schemata. These are non-scholarly, but practical, highlighting concepts that I have found of value in composing/ improvising in classical styles.

Justin is an Australian-born musician, residing in Northern California, in the Chico area.
