Richard Vandervord

The videos which I’ve uploaded are really just an aside to my aircraft slide and digital photography, occasionally fitted in when, for instance the conditions were cloudy and not up to my required standards for stills or when I happened to have the camcorder with me for family use. The early material from 1988 on was taken with a shoulder-mounted Sony V8AF, replaced around ten years later with a Sony CCD-V700 and later still a Sony TRV-125 Handycam which still works, allowing me to transfer the Hi8 tapes to iMovie on my MacBook.

My interest in aviation was sparked by growing up under the approach to Southend Airport, which in those days flourished with classic prop aircraft. Today's scene is utterly dull by comparison!

I like to travel as much in pursuit of exotic and historic aviation subjects possible and have managed to cover 110 countries as of 2025.
