Madly Kimono

Growing up in Japan during the Showa era, 🌸 traditional arts like Ikebana & Nihon Buyō were woven into my life. Yet when it came to wearing Kimono, 👘 I often told myself I wasn’t the right shape for these beautiful garments. Geta & Zōri barely fit, and even my wedding Furisode had to be stitched together from two bolts of fabric! 😆 For a long time, I believed that Kimono just weren’t meant for me. Does this sound familiar?

Everything shifted years later when I spotted a cute Haori at a thrift store in Kyoto. That moment opened new possibilities: enjoying these garments without rules, in ways that bring creativity, fun, and a sense of wholeness. ✨

This space is about sharing those feelings through upcycling Kimono, DIY sewing projects that spark curiosity, and glimpses of intentional slower living. My hope is that my trial & error experiments will inspire and encourage you to explore, play, and feel at home in yourself, wherever you are on your journey. ❤️
