John Millan

John Javier Millan Perez was born in Belleville, NJ on October 3, 1983. Although he was raised in suburban New Jersey, he spent every summer with his grand parents in the small Galician port town of Palmeira (A Coruña). It was during those summers he forged a bond with his homeland and fell in love with his Galician culture, learning it's language and customs. In addition, his family celebrated their native culture by becoming active members in Club España (Newark, NJ). A social club founded by imigrants where all members of the spainard community could go to not only celebrate their heritage, but to teach their native language and customs to younger generations in order to ensure that their tranditional roots were never lost.

It was there under the direction of Nabor Lopez, Marcos Fajardo and Elio Mayo that his appreciation for Galician folk music was cemented. Joining the group "Anduriña", he became part of a very special group of people that have traveled all along th
