The Centre for Sound Communities

The CSC is both a physical an conceptual space at the intersection of university, community and industry. The CSC hosts:

• speakers
• workshop
• artist/researcher residencies
• rehearsals and performances
• recording and production sessions.

Dedicated to the collaborative, community-engaged research of Dr. Marcia Ostashewski as Canada Research Chair in Communities and Cultures, The Centre for Sound Communities promotes collaboration and community-based research on music, dance, performance and other media. The Centre for Sound Communities at Cape Breton University promotes community-engaged, collaborative and technology-enriched research on sound, movement, and media. This world-class digital arts and humanities lab was established in 2016, with funding from Canada Foundation for Innovation, and the Nova Scotia Research and Innovation Trust.
