PSPS Scottish Branch

The Paddle Steamer Preservation Society (PSPS) was founded in 1959 and has a current membership of 2,500. The PSPS has saved two historic paddle steamers - Waverley (1947) and Kingswear Castle (1924).

Waverley - the last sea-going Paddle Steamer in the world was gifted to the PSPS for just £1 and operates in several areas around the U.K.

Kingswear Castle - Britain’s last operational coal-fired Paddle Steamer - was saved by the Society in 1967 when she was purchased for £600.

The Scottish Branch of the PSPS was founded in 1969 by Douglas McGowan MBE. The Branch is one of five Branches of the Society and regularly provides support for Paddle Steamer Waverley.
