Darcy the Pony
We purchased Darcy, our 14h New Forest pony on 5th April 2024 when she was just 3yrs old.
When we bought her she was very green, had done little work and had little experience going out. She had lived her life with her herd until she moved to us just before turning 4yrs.
The move to a paddock with a dominant mare was acutely stressful for Darcy. The lack of grass over winter came & the ponies battled over food & Darcy developed stomach ulcers & she became very aggressive, angry & unrideable. She was treated but was still difficult to manage.
The last year we’ve been
rehabilitating her, working very hard on taking her out & about. She’s becoming an absolutely gorgeous pony with heaps of potential. This channel follows these challenges & successes. Come, subscribe & fall in love with this beautiful pony & see what the future holds for her!
We also give useful hints & tips about how to manage owning pony at a DIY livery yard in South East England & a glimpse into our family life.
