Natel Energy
Natel’s FishSafe™ turbine designs enable safe downstream passage for fish and other aquatic organisms while also efficiently producing renewable hydropower.
From the beginning, validating our technology with live fish has been an important component of our design process, to ensure that our turbine designs are effective for a wide range of migratory fish. Ωur testing has consistently shown an exceptionally high survival rate (98-100%) for turbine-passed fish, which we've documented in peer-reviewed papers.
FishSafe™ turbines can eliminate the need for fine fish exclusion screens, reducing up-front and operating costs and increasing plant efficiency. FishSafe™ turbines are also effective at plants with high flow rates, where screening may not be feasible. FishSafe™ turbines and turbine runners can be used as direct replacements for aging equipment in existing hydropower sites, additionally improving downstream passage for the necessary cost of repowering the plant.
