Jester Hairston: Legacy of the Spirituals
This channel is dedicated to the work and legacy of Jester Hairston 1901-2000. Follow this link to review his auto-biography in a multi-media eBook: https://apple.co/3o4VWki Jester was one of the most fascinating but little know legends of the 20th century. His career on Broadway, Radio, Feature Films and Television spanned 70 years. But his greatest accomplishment was being the principle voice for preserving and spreading the art and cultural legacy of the spiritual, the songs born in the days of slavery, America's first indigenous folk music. This will be an on-going collection of Jester's music, life and appearances. Eventually it will be connected to a web site, still to be named, where a more thorough exploration of this life will be presented.
