The Lorens Farm
Welcome to my Channel; I’m Robert Lorens. Joy (wife) and I have farmed in the longleaf pine region of southern Mississippi since 1982. Over the years our farming operation evolved and since 1999 we raised sheep. In 2011 I retired from my day job and became a full time shepherd. In 2024 I retired again, this time from being a shepherd. The sheep business is carried on by my son, Jeffrey, and his wife, Jackie who bought land next to my farm. I still help out when and where I can, but my primary interest is enhancing wildlife habitats around the farm. Of course to do this requires equipment, so its use and maintenance also consumes a lot of time. Combined, we have 480 acres of rolling hills and flatlands covered with native rangeland, improved bahiagrass pastures and cultivated fields interspersed between bottomland woods, creeks and hillside bogs. We always thought that interesting things were happening here and this channel documents that.
