St. Moses Choir

South African legendary Clap & Tap Choir founded in 1978 by Sophia Maqueen Makhanya. Famously known for self-written hymns like Tsela E Thata Joang, Ho Bokwe Morena, Thapelo Ya Basotho and many more.

St. Moses Choir is one of the clap & tap mutli-gold and platinum selling choir. Ha Lefatshe Le Wetswe (1980) and Thapelo Ya Basotho (1986) being the most selling albums to date.

St. Moses Choir is from and based in the East Rand of Johannesburg, Tembisa. Before its successful commercial album, Ha Lefatshe Le Wetswe (1980) the choir had independently recorded an album titled Morena Ke Modimo.

Ho Bokwe Morena has been covered by Sechaba, Soweto Gospel Choir, Lebo Sekgobela, Thinah Zungu & Dumi Mkokstad, Keke Phofolo, and many more. Making it the most covered song composed and written by Sophia Maqueen Makhanya.

Thapelo Ya Basotho is also considered by most Basotho to be a Lesotho anthem. The song was composed to honor and appreciate Basotho for the excess support to St. Moses Choir.
