Crossrail Project
The Elizabeth line is the most significant addition to London’s transport network in a generation. The new railway is transforming life and travel in London and the South East, reducing journey times, creating additional capacity and transforming accessibility.
The railway, delivered by #Crossrail runs for over 100km through central London from Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east to Reading and Heathrow in the west and has a total of 41 stations. The railway forms part of the Transport for London (TfL) network and has interchanges with other TfL services and National Rail services. The Elizabeth line is opening in stages across 2022-2023, and, when fully open, it will increase central London’s rail capacity by 10%.
This channel chronicles the construction of the new railway and gives a look at what was Europe's largest infrastructure project.
