Born in Eritrea, Estifanos discovered his artistic passion at a young age. His musical journey truly began when he joined the freedom movement, where he used his voice to uplift fellow fighters and bring encouragement through songs that carried powerful messages of perseverance and love for his homeland.

In 1977, Estifanos was severely wounded in battle and lost one of his legs — but this never stopped his dedication to music. Instead, it gave his work deeper meaning. His early song “Hijum” became a timeless anthem of strength and resilience, loved by Eritreans everywhere.
