Hunt Valley Ensembles
The Hunt Valley Wind Ensemble (HVWE), Maryland’s newest community band, was founded in 2016 by Jenn Ambrosiano. The band is a non-profit, all volunteer organization which is sponsored by the Cockeysville Recreation Council in Baltimore County, Maryland. HVWE performs under the direction of Matthew T. Benner, a percussionist and music teacher in the Baltimore County School System. Ryan Pilius, also a Baltimore County high school instrumental music teacher, serves as the band’s assistant conductor.
HVWE is made up of 70 musicians and has been growing steadily since the band’s inception. The band’s main repertoire includes grade 4 - 6 pieces with the majority of music being grade 5. Concerts are performed throughout the year, including formal indoor concerts as well as outdoor concerts. There are no auditions and rehearsals are year-round on Monday evenings. The band is a member of the Association of Concert Bands (ACB) as well as the local Cockeysville Recreation Council
