Welcome to the Landy Valley Railway!

The Landy Valley Railway is a herritage railway in the North East of England, running on the former Leeds, Ripon, Northallerton to Middlesbourgh mainline. The preserved section runs north of Northallerton for 14 miles through the top end of the North Yorkshire Moors. The LVR is a unique railway being a privately owned railway that bought the line direct from BR in 1967, and that runs a daily commuter service. As a result we bought many locos and rolling stock direct from BR and we have one of the largest collections of locomotives of all herritage railways. The railway has its own engineering works where we overhaul our own fleet and with such a vast fleet of locos we tend to hire them out so the engines earn their keep.

Railway Route:

Tanfiled Town - Badworthy Park - Redmoor Lakeside - Kettleworth

We are connected to the national network via a junction at Northallerton to Tanfield town.
