Takar Nabam
Takar Nabam is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Arunachal Pradesh, India, whose music flows like a river between worlds—melding mellow alt-rock, jazz, and soul with whispers of Himalayan folk and the spirit of Northeast India. Singing in English and his native Nyishi tongue, Takar’s sound is a gentle rebellion—dreamy, introspective, and rooted in the belief that the journey matters more than the destination.
Shaped by 90s rock, R&B, and the improvisational freedom of jazz, he studied music formally before finding his voice across stages in India, the U.S., Japan, and Indonesia. His albums—Same Sky, This Home, That Home, and Red and Yellow—have earned critical praise, with the latter named among 2021’s top indie releases.
From opening for Metallica to playing intimate Sofar Sounds sets in Brooklyn, Takar continues to bridge tradition and modernity, carving a sonic path that feels both personal and universal.
