Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe GmbH

The Leibniz-Institut für Verbundwerkstoffe GmbH (IVW) is a nonprofit research institution supported by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). It investigates fundamental and applied aspects of composite materials, essential for future mobility, energy, climate, environment, production, and healthcare. IVW develops new materials, construction methods, and manufacturing processes, tailoring them to specific needs once the basic principles are established.

Focusing on the entire process chain, IVW covers everything from materials research and characterization to simulation, production technologies, component testing, and recycling. Its innovative concepts lead to spin-offs, and newly gained insights are transferred not only into science but also into teaching, the broader public, and industrial applications.
