Su Jayaraman (SuJ)

These are excerpts from practice sessions done by the singer at home. They spread over many years.

Now, at age 80, he is in retired life. He functioned as a physicist in India, Europe, and USA.

He learnt about ragas from his mother first. Then trained under Sri G. Balasubramaniam (GB Sir) who pursued a career in accounting in Bombay. He feels indebted to Sri GB Sir, and his wife Smt. Rajalakshmi, also a highly respected musician, for providing the atmosphere and opportunity for his learning. He enjoyed learning with his associates Sri S. Narayan (BARC) and Sri K.R. Krishnamurthy (RCF).

He was also fortunate to be introduced (by friend Sri Sathya Jyothi) to revered late Sri Ranga Ramanuja Ayyangar (Sri RR), to get blessed. Vainika, Sri RR, is best known for his monumental work "Krithimani Malai", that documents thousands of krithis, with swara notations.

These humble submissions, with most of them having sruthi as the only accompanying sound, may offer their own appeal.
