Dromainn Ti

Dromintee St Patrick’s Gaelic Athletic Club (Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Naomh Pádraig, Dromainn Tí) is the oldest GAA club in Armagh. It represents the Dromintee and Jonesborough parish on the southern border of County Armagh.
The birth of Dromintee “Gap of the North” GFC, in 1886 was set against the background of various geographical and historical factors which may have dictated that Dromintee would have the honour of being the first club in county Armagh affiliated to the GAA.
Our parish is steeped in historical markers with the slopes of our own Slieve Gullion home to many mystical figures in Irish history, including Cuchulain, Fionn mac Cumhaill and the original “Na Fianna”. The oldest Christian monument in Ireland – Kilnasaggart Inscribed Stone – sits in the valley of our parish on the approach to the “Gap of the North”, which has been guarded for centuries by the historic “Moyry Castle” – both of which are prominent in our club crest.
