Central Jamaat-e Ahl-e Sunnat Norway

Central Jamaat-e Ahl-e Sunnat (CJAS) was founded in 1977 under the name Anjuman-e Hanfia. In 1979, the congregation was registered in Oslo under the name Central Jamaat-e Ahle-e Sunnat.

CJAS arose as a response to the need to facilitate prayer and have a gathering place for immigrants from Pakistan in the 1970s. From its infancy to today, the congregation has undergone major structural and cultural changes, and is today one of Norway's largest and most forward-looking Islamic organisations.

For over 40 years, CJAS has maintained its main goal, namely to facilitate daily prayers, Friday prayers and Quran classes for children, youth and adults. The biggest milestone in CJAS's history was reached on 11 June 2006. The congregation moved from old and worn-out warehouses at Urtegata 11 to a new and modern Islamic Knowledge and Culture Center and mosque built from scratch at Motzfeldtsgate 10.
