The 818 Beat is a student-powered, faculty-led newsroom
from CSUN’s Journalism Department. We cover stories
about the San Fernando Valley: the people, places, and
issues that shape this community. Our mission is to inform,
connect, and empower through accurate, local reporting
you can trust.
Every story is produced by CSUN student journalists and
reviewed by faculty, following the Society of Professional
Journalists’ Code of Ethics. We’re committed to
transparency and collaboration. That means being open
about how we report, correcting our mistakes quickly, and
inviting the community to share story ideas and feedback.
