Liberté Anne

Liberté Anne is a composer, arranger, pianist and bandleader from Montreal. She has traveled throughout her career to where her musical passions have taken her in order to reach the knowledge from as authentic sources as possible. First, in 2012, she settled in New York City for almost five years. There, she founded the first edition of the Liberté Big Band, comprising some of the city’s most promising up-and-comers. Afterwards, she traveled on several occasions to Cuba to study afro-cuban folklore. She is currently based in Montreal.
Liberté Anne's music ranges from modern but still swingin' big band jazz to stream-of-consciousness through composed scores. She writes for a range of settings, from jazz ensembles to art song, all with an emphasis on strong emotivity and spontaneity of performance and process.
