Radio Pakistan Peshawar Official

Radio Pakistan Peshawar is the oldest Radio Station in Pakistan, inaugurated on 6th March, 1935. Mr. Abdul Qayyum Khan, the renowned politician of North-West Frontier Province, was in London to attend the Round Table Conference in 1931. He met Marconi ( Inventor of Radio) and requested him to donate and install the Radio transmitter in N.W.F.P. The transmitter, personally engineered by Marconi, was installed in Peshawar and inaugurated by Sir Ralph Edwin Hotchkin Griffith, the Governor of North-West Frontier Province in 1935. Marconi also donated 30 Radio sets to Mr. Abdul Qayum Khan who further handed over that to Hujras of the area.
