ITC Sangeet Research Academy
ITC Sangeet Research Academy began its journey in 1978 with the purpose of propagating and nurturing Hindustani Classical music. In the last four and a half decades, this Kolkata-based institution has grown in impact and significance, turning out to be an embodiment of sustained corporate commitment to the national heritage it is committed to. In 1978, ITC Ltd took a giant pioneering step in corporate patronage of a form which, at that point, was teetering on the brink of oblivion to turn it around. Great gurus were identified and brought into the campus from all over the country to live there and teach. Potential Scholars were also scouted from all across to learn from the Gurus so that Hindustani Classical Music could be nurtured and propagated. Blending today’s research methods with the purity of the age-old Guru-Shishya tradition, ITC SRA is recognised as the finest repository of Hindustani Vocal Music.
