NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA)

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is a unique transatlantic forum that brings together 281 parliamentarians from the 32 NATO member countries. Established in 1955, it embodies the values enshrined in NATO’s founding treaty: democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law. While independent from NATO, the Assembly connects NATO and the more than one billion citizens of the NATO Alliance through their elected representatives. Through the NATO PA, parliamentarians from Europe and North America can discuss and influence decisions on transatlantic security and defence. By supporting the parliamentary dimension of the Alliance, the NATO PA helps maintain a strong and united NATO, firmly grounded in transatlantic solidarity and shared democratic values.
