The Notochords of VCU

The Notochords, VCU's oldest award-winning gender-inclusive A Cappella ensemble, embody Family, Harmony, and Originality. Established in 1992 on the MCV campus and now based on Monroe Park, they compete and perform throughout Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic.

Making their ICCA debut in 2021, they won 1st place and special awards for Best Arrangement, Soloist, Choreography, and Videography, advancing to the Semifinals. They continued to excel, securing 3rd place in 2022, 2023, and 2024, with accolades for Outstanding Soloist in 2023 and Outstanding Choreography in 2024.

The Notochords released two singles, with their rendition of "XS" featured on the 2023 Varsity Vocals Best of Collegiate A Cappella Album (BOCA). Their latest EP, 'M3', is available on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, and their official music video for 'erase me' is now viewable.

Looking ahead, the Notochords aim to share their music widely and foster a vibrant community atmosphere at VCU.
