Faculty of Physics
The Faculty of Physics of ITMO University originates from the International Research Centre of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials whose employees have been successfully carrying out research since 2009. Our team began as a small laboratory and has grown into a large scientific and educational organization in 13 years.
Here, over 20 research areas are being developed: nanophotonics, quantum optics, optoelectronics, optomechanics, biophotonics, radiophysics, new materials.
We follow the concept of “new physics” that represents the ongoing development of the Department: discovering new lines of research, a fundamentally new approach to educating students, an atmosphere of creative freedom, confidence in young colleagues, supporting personal growth of employees, and strong administrative team. We are in love with physics, and we are doing our best to be the best place for realizing the most creative breakthrough ideas!
