Welcome to my channel! I am Aslıhan Erkisi, performing traditional Turkish Makam music with Kanun and Istanbul Kemençe. Here you will find unique performances, classical works, and cultural treasures of Anatolia.
I was born in Germany and graduated with honors from the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory in 2008, where I was the valedictorian of both my department and the entire school. I completed my master's degree in Educational Sciences at Yeditepe University with a full scholarship. I worked as a lecturer at the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory of Turkish Music for 8 years before moving to the United States about 10 years ago. Currently, I am in the thesis phase of my PhD in Musicology. Here, I run a music school where I teach Turkish musical instruments and maqam.
Turkish makam music performances accompanied by the qanun and kemence, duets with musicians, concert recordings, and introductions to makam are featured here.”
