Karl Wolf
Karl Wolf is a Lebanese-Canadian musician who was raised in Dubai and is currently based in Toronto. He began his
career as a producer and songwriter, amassing sales of over 1 million albums before launching his solo career. In 2004,
he released his single “Butterflies,” which became the first A-pop (Arabic pop) song, earning Karl Wolf the title “Father of
A-pop”. The single was featured on his debut album, Face Behind the Face (2006), which earned a JUNO Award
(Canadian GRAMMYs) nomination for Best R&B Soul Recording.
In 2007, he released his second album, “Bite the Bullet”, which included the international hit single “Africa.” This track
sold over 1 million units worldwide and spent eight weeks at #2 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100. “Africa” achieved
quadruple-platinum status in Canada, reaching #1 on iTunes and various radio charts, and earned him a 2008 MTV
Europe Music Award.
