CNC Machine Working Description
A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine operates by using a computer to control the movement of tools and machinery for precise manufacturing. Instead of manual operation, CNC machines follow pre-programmed commands (called G-code) to perform tasks like cutting, drilling, milling, or shaping materials such as metal, wood, or plastic.
1. Design and Programming:
The process begins with creating a design in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. This design is then converted into CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software, which generates the G-code — the set of instructions the machine will follow.
2. Machine Setup:
The workpiece (raw material) is securely clamped onto the machine bed.
3. Execution:
The CNC controller reads the G-code and automatically controls the machine’s movement along the X, Y, and Z axes.
4. Operation:
As the machine runs, the tool moves according to the programmed path, cutting or shaping the material to match the design.
