Punch trio

The Punch Trio is born from the question: what if the legend Django Reinhardt had not died in 1953 at an early age? With his passing, the world missed his interpretation of hard-bop, a style that defined jazz in the late 20th century. A rawer style than bebop, with glimmers of groove, blues, latin, and catchy melodies.

"Jazz on the ropes" is the motto of a trio whose mission is to come out swinging with a repertoire rarely performed by acoustic string instruments. Much like boxing, the Punch Trio delivers a noble duel between its guitars, each with their own voice, unafraid of taking risks.

Like most genres based on tradition, gypsy jazz has usually looked to the past to imitate what Django and Grappelli created in the swing era.

At the other side of the ring, the Punch Trio rebels against this. The only condition it sets is the use of acoustic string instruments to make jazz. Blow by blow, the Punch Trio takes on the challenge of loosening the gloves of gypsy jazz.
