Keeping Up with Kaelyn
Kaelyn's medical records certainly tell a story all their own; but her journey tells quite a different story. Kaelyn had an early onset of spastic seizures at 4 months old following her dTap vaccination. Brain surgery 6 months following this injury to drain blood (December 2008). Diagnosed with CVI Cortical Vision Impairment and Quadriplegia Spastic Cerebral Palsy. After nearly a year of mixing seizure medications and doses, I QUIT. WE QUIT. I weened her off each one at a time and with each medication being removed from her system she improved. The seizures stopped. VNS (Vargas Nerve Simulator) Implant THE back up plan (November 2009). We LOVE holistic and natural solutions, we need technology (and science) we are trying to avoid medication. Her rehabilitation has been my inspiration. Pushing boundaries. Her relentless commitment to a grueling therapy schedule without giving is why She is MY CHAMPION and we are just trying to keep up.
