Established in 1966, the Department of Psychiatry at Makerere University is Uganda’s pioneer centre for mental health training, research, and clinical care.
We are committed to advancing mental health through education, research, advocacy, and service. Our mission is to train competent and compassionate mental health professionals, generate locally relevant knowledge, and promote the wellbeing of individuals and communities across Africa.
