Jordan, inside-outsider in Japan
I’m Jordan, “Inside Outsider" in Japan.
I live in Mie prefecture, located in the center of the country between the metropolitan regions of Osaka-Kyoto and Nagoya.
This is a rural area, but one that is rich in culture and history. Just wandering through the winding streets here we can find many fascinating places that connect us with people who lived hundreds or even thousands of years ago. Temples, shrines, old buildings. But more than that, many of the core elements of Japanese culture, philosophy, and spirituality have there roots in this area. This is because of the region’s proximity to the capital during the Nara era and to the center of the ancient Yamato civilization. If you really want to know Japan, this is a good place to start. But enough talk. I'm just about to head out and check out a local brew pub. Care to join me?
