Professor Travis

You're probably here for the Geology 101 videos. I'm really not a rockhound, but I LOVE what rocks can tell us about the past. Kind of like reading can feel a bit like a chore, but a good story is the best thing ever.

Geology is a language. You learn how to read the rocks, now you get to read stories they tell you like the dinosaur extinction, Snowball Earth, or the fact the rocks in your backyard are a 350 million year old beach that you wish was still there.

So who am I? I'm a community college geology professor who has worked in both the environmental industry as well as oil & gas. However, education is my true passion and I've worked in that capacity with museums, K-12, higher education and lived/worked in both Alaska and Hawai'i but currently call the "mountains" of the Ozarks my home(they're really just deep valleys).
