Matt's 1791 Garage

Welcome to Matt's Garage! Follow along with me on my journey to rescue cool, vintage stuff. I really appreciate the craftsmanship & quality of tools that are a century old and love hunting for forgotten, rusty history( junk to the untrained eye). For many, seeing these old tools restored brings back many fond memories and I love hearing your stories. I learn as I go, make mistakes, & my work is prone to imperfections. But that's the beauty - it doesn't have to be perfect! I appreciate & respect the craftmanship of a full blown 'better than new' restoration, but I tend to lean towards preserving as much of the tool's hard-earned 'character' that I can. In the end, if you're proud of it & can step back & smile at your work that's what matters. I hope my simple approach inspires others to tackle their own restorations. In short, just a regular guy pursuing an interest to rescue history, one rusty tool at a time.
