Welcome to my channel, Good-Simon Gear (a.k.a. G.Simon Gear, GSG). Thanks so much for stopping by! My name's Garrett; I'm big into playing bass, writing music, trail running, and backpacking. I formerly played bass for the Greenville, SC-based progressive rock band State of Illusion. This channel is where I document adventures in bass, metal, & the outdoors!
Here's the philosophy I take on my little grooves here: I enjoy making bass-centric songs, allowing the instrument to add a unique texture and feel to the music that's not suitable within guitar- or vocal-oriented tunes. While I'm certainly no virtuoso (a quick YouTube search for "best bassist ever" will confirm that), I'll add complexity when the song calls for it (assuming I can actually play said complex part...). All the other times, I'm focused on holding down the groove!
