Cheapass-tro

I'm all about cheapassing my way through astrophotography.
It's an expensive game and if we can DIY some of it, that's the way I'll go.

Now in year 3, I've quite the setup. At no point did I spend out more than £215 on any one thing. That was my OnStep controller & motors etc. You may argue I stated a cost of about £250 on the caravan/observatory conversion, but it wasn't in one hit.

Unless the lottery comes good I will persist in this manner, but I still want to achieve what the 'big boys' achieve.
I want good (yet amateur) astrophotography at budget prices, not plain 'budget astrophotography'.
i.e. through DIY, hacks, free software and some real good bargain hunting I will continue improving my setup and my astro but even if I upgrade my mount at some point, I can't see me ever forking out over, say £500 - and that's unlikely.
