Baron Smith

My name is Baron Smith. I play the guitar and write songs and perform cover songs. I'm a big fan of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr., Sturgill Simpson, Jamey Johnson, Jimmy Buffett, Chris Stapleton, Billy Joe Shaver and many others. I had a band called "Baron and The Branders" and we performed regularly at The Lone Star Cafe and Club in Dallas for several years. I worked with Bruce Kidder of KHYI, The Range, on the "Pickin' Party" at the Lone Star Cafe and Club for several years. I performed and ran sound for the weekly event and met many artists and friends.
The highlight of my music career was singing "You Asked Me To" with Billy Joe Shaver. What a cool cat he was.
Members of "Baron and The Branders" included: Bobby Germany, Jimmy Massey, Joe Degelia, Danny McBrayer Gary Lindsey, Ken Hightower. Throughout my time working the clubs, I had the privilege of meeting and watching many, many original artists perform their craft.
