William Holland School of Lapidary Arts
William Holland School of Lapidary Arts began in 1983, and was founded by Harold C. Sparks. At the time, Harold C. Sparks was serving as the eighth president of the Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies (sfms), and he was troubled that a school of instruction for the Lapidary Arts did not exist. Workshops were held a couple times a year, but nothing consistent was being offered. Harold and his wife Mary Lou set out to find a mountain top retreat where such a school could be built. Soon his vision became a reality, and today we offer classes in lapidary, jewelry, basketry, and several other art forms as well. He decided he would name the school after the late William Holland, (former third president of the sfms).
Come spend a week or two in the North Georgia Mountains relaxing and learning new skills! Check here for videos about school life, classes we offer, and all the lapidary fun you could imagine!
