Hopes are forever

The Cagney and Lacey-series have played a big role in feminism, having two working women as main characters working in a job dominated by men. It was of course not done at that time if the writers would have let them discover a lesbian or bisexual nature. Still it is said, that femslash started with this series. Many girls and women fell in love with Sharon Gless (Christine Cagney) or Tyne Daly (Mary Beth), and I was one of them.

In my fanvideo's, Cagney and Lacey do what I (and others) have always dreamt, they discover their lesbian identity, in an 'alternative reality'. That doesn't change the fact that the characters were great written.

Sharon Gless (2009): "Christine Cagney... No, I don't think she's gay... but who knows... The scenes you didn't see..." (Gay Icon Awards 2009, see playlist)
