What is "Mty Gon"? Mty is a slightly shorter version of the word Empty. Gon is the railroad slang term for Gondola.
Growing up in Northern, Indiana, I often saw Empty Gondolas going to and from steel mills, rolling mills, stamping plants and scrap yards. I have always been a fan of this often overlooked, hard working freight car.
