Love Origami
Welcome to Love Origami, channel dedicated to the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture.
Origami was initially known as orikata (folded shapes), but in 1880 due to rendaku, the term orikata morphed to origami.
Paper was invented in China around 105 AD and was brought to Japan by monks in the sixth century. These handmade papers were a luxury item, so paper folding in ancient Japan was strictly for special occasions and religious rituals at ceremonies. By the 1600's, paper folding in Japan had become recreational as well as ceremonial.
According to some sources, paper folding emerged in Europe around 700 AD, partly because of the famous Silk Road, a network of trade routes that connected the East and West.
Origami today has evolved into a modern art form, often used in design and architecture. Complex geometric folding algorithms also have their application in the fields of science, technology and engineering.
