Great Lakes Bonsai
I’m Brad, and this is Great Lakes Bonsai! Based in West Michigan (Zone 6a), I’ve been practicing bonsai since 2018, and have ~100 trees at varying stages of development.
I have no formal horticultural/bonsai training - most of my advice is based on my own learnings (failures AND successes), plus many hours spent digesting information from bonsai YouTube channels, BonsaiNut, and Bonsai Mirai.
I am the VP of our West Michigan Bonsai Society and enjoy meeting new bonsai friends. I have a passion for native species, collecting from the wild, and developing young material over the long term, especially deciduous trees.
My goals for this channel include:
- Sharing my learnings from experience as a bonsai hobbyist
- Showing trial and error of new techniques and growing methods on bonsai material
- Tracking progression of trees in my collection as they develop over time
